There has been discussions since the first stimulus about a potential second stimulus in the works. Even though the IRS is continually distributing pandemic relief funds, that does not include a second stimulus at this time.
Scammers are now trying to steal financial information and / or money by emailing and texting fraudulent messages. The messages people have been receiving read, “You have received a direct deposit of $1,200 from covid-19 TREAS FUND. Further action is required to accept this payment into your account. Continue here to accept this payment,” according to the IRS. If you get this text, take a screenshot and email it to phishing@irs.gov.
The IRS will not send you a message that funds have been deposited, the stimulus payments were sent automatically.
