The work industry has really changed over the last several years, and with that new tools have become available to help with the everyday work flow. Zoom has been a huge addition to many companies, big and small. We have a few tips and tricks that may help you prepare for important meetings and feel confident in this new work environment!
- Enter silently
- If your meeting has already started and you want to slip in without causing a distraction, opt to enter the meeting silently. Open the Zoom app and click Settings. On the Audio tab, click the box to add a checkmark to Always mute the microphone when joining a meeting.
- Change your background
- Zoom has really stepped up the game with being able to change your background! Some stay at home parents love this option so they can still take the calls they need but not have everyone see their messy kitchen or workspace. Click on Settings > Virtual Background. From there, Zoom will offer you a few selections you can use or you can upload your own image.
- Set up Zoom to show names
- If you are the kind of person who isn’t the best at remembering everyone’s names, this is the trick for you! Go to Settings > Video and check the box for Always display particpant’s name.
- Record your meeting onto your computer
- Recording your meetings is so helpful in so many ways. It is always great to be able to look back and reference what was said during the meeting or share it with people who might need the information. Go to Settings > Recording and toggle the option on. Once that’s done, you can click the Record icon when you’re hosting a Zoom meeting on the bottom toolbar.
- Quick invite
- Sometimes in the midst of everyday work life, it can get a bit crazy and you might have forgotten to invite a coworker to access the meeting. Send a quick invite by typing Cmd+I on Mac or Alt+I on PC to open the Invite window. Click Email tab, copy the URL, and send it to anyone who needs it.
